Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve

An internationally important wetland, Wicken Fen offers a glimpse of a lost landscape. It is a surviving remnant of the once extensive great fen of East Anglia, and offers visitors the chance to explore via a Boardwalk and longer trails.

The Visitor Centre and bird hides give views across wildflower meadows, reedbeds, wet grassland and open water, and the chance to see rare birds such as hen harriers and bittern, over 20 varieties of dragonfly, as well as our konik ponies, water voles and otter. Glimpse the life of a fen labourer in the Fen Cottage, or indulge in a boat trip on Wicken Lode.
