A 40-acre oasis of beautiful gardens and glasshouses to enjoy all year round.
Founded in 1846 by Professor John Henslow, mentor to Charles Darwin, this heritage-listed Botanic Garden is a treasure trove of over 8,000 plant species, including nine national collections and a very fine arboretum. Highlights include the Winter Garden, a masterclass in combining foliage, flower and fragrance for winter interest, the Rock Garden, with its kaleidoscopic flowering and the stunning, water-wise Dry Garden. The magnificently-restored Glasshouse Range is home to diverse habitats, ranging from arid lands of architectural cactus to flamboyant tropical rainforests.
