Ely Cathedral

Christian worship has been offered on the site of Ely Cathedral for over 1300 years. The present building dates from 1081 and was a Benedictine monastery for over 450 years. Today the Cathedral lies at the heart of a great diocese and is a centre of historic and artistic interest which every year welcomes many thousands of visitors from across the world. The famous Octagon and Lantern Tower, the Lady Chapel, painted Nave ceiling, stained glass and unequalled collection of medieval monastic buildings combine to make a visit to Ely Cathedral a uniquely memorable experience.
